In-Situ Variable Temperature Raman Testing with Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Optical heating/cooling stage

Shanghai Jiao Tong University_Customized Variable Temperature Raman Testing

Raman spectroscopy is a form of molecular spectroscopy that observes inelastically scattered light (commonly known as Raman scattering) to detect and identify the vibrational (phonon) states of molecules. Therefore, Raman spectroscopy can be used to identify molecules and monitor changes in molecular bond structures (such as material composition, state changes, stress and strain, crystal form, and crystallinity). The characteristics of Raman spectroscopy give it unique advantages compared to other vibrational spectroscopy methods like FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) and NIR (Near-Infrared Spectroscopy). These advantages stem from the fact that the Raman effect is manifested in light scattered by the sample rather than light absorbed by it.

Consequently, Raman spectroscopy requires minimal sample preparation effort and is relatively insensitive to water absorption bands. These properties allow Raman spectroscopy to not only directly test solids, liquids, and gases but also to perform measurements through transparent materials like glass, quartz, and plastic.

The GoGo Instruments Optical  heating/cooling stage is a product designed for researching the temperature-dependent optical properties of samples, enabling the characterization of how optical performance varies with temperature. The product utilizes liquid nitrogen for cooling and electrical resistance for heating, achieving precise temperature control within ranges of -190°C to 600°C (depending on model selection) or RT to 1200°C (depending on model selection). It can be integrated with other optical equipment (such as microscopes, Raman spectrometers, etc.) for in-situ variable temperature testing. Depending on requirements, models with optical reflection or transmission modes can be selected. It is used in conjunction with a temperature controller, cooling controller (optional), and the accompanying upper computer temperature control software (supporting upper-computer temperature control software) facilitates temperature setting and data acquisition. Provided LabVIEW VIs enable customers to perform customized programming. This product (shown in Figure 4) is a stage custom-built for the client, integrated with optical equipment like microscopes and Raman spectrometers for in-situ variable temperature testing.

According to the client's needs (as shown in Figure 3), an optical reflection mode model (optional) was selected, with a viewport size of φ25mm and a custom objective lens working distance of 5.5mm (as shown in Figure 4). It is used in conjunction with the temperature controller, cooling controller (optional), and customized temperature control software.
